Summary of Activities
The following is a summary of the activities
developed by Estancia "San Pedro de Timote", Country Hotel and
Resort, in its two divisions: Country Resort, and Convention Center.
Our country Hotel and Resort
The Hotel offers accommodation in rooms with
heating, which were decorated taking into account our guests'
comfort. 5 main suites and 8 suites are placed in the historical
homestead (former home of Dr. Alberto Gallinal and his family);
we have another 21 rooms at the hostal (Dr. Gallinal's guesthouse)
The "estancia" (ranch) has a recreational area
with an air-conditioned indoor swimming pool, two open-air swimming
pools, a playroom (including pool tables, table football and table
tennis), a Pub holding another billiard table and a bar, two TV
rooms (one of them having a 61" screen and a DVD projector); we
also have a significant amount of videos and DVD films; for sport
lovers we have a tennis court, a basket ball court, a basketball
field and other recreation facilities. -
The Hotel has a Catholic Chapel for 150 people
where the Mass, Marriages and Baptisms are celebrated in a wonderful
environment of full contact with Nature. The service we provide
includes a horse driven carriage ("charret") and all that was
usual in XIX-century traditional marriages.
We have added a dance-hall for 250 people so
that Birthday, Anniversary
and
Marriage parties may be also held at "San Pedro de Timote".This
hall is located at the Convention Center, and it gives a chance
for parties or meetings of up to 500 guests to be held at the
different Convention Center levels.
A day in our country life
A day
at the Estancia begins with colonial breakfast.
Then those who wish so, can go riding on horseback or on a cart
pulled by a tractor to accompany the country tasks carried out
by our personnel on that day. We can also go for walks according
to a schedule, which depends on the general profile of the guests
present at the Estancia.
Return to the homestead, gives time enough
to swim at the swimming pools, either indoors or outdoors, according
to the weather. Also practice any sports on the various courts
formerly mentioned, or just relax on our well
provided bar and Pub. After lunch, free time,
and according to the guest's wishes, a trip to the nearby arboretum
can take place.
It's also remarkable the bush surrounding the
Timote creek, with its native slow growing species.
For
those who wish so, the milking routine can be observed at the
dairy farm in the evening.
An afternoon
snack is served.
At night, a photographic safari takes place.
Usually our guests can watch very closely the interesting
wild fauna present at the estancia.
This estancia has been for deadest a wild fauna sanctuary,
carefully preserved by us.
Carpinchos, also known as capybaras, (the biggest rodent
on earth), wild boars, foxes, ostriches, hares, three different
species of armadillos,etc. etc. etc.
are commonly seen.
Birds are so common at the homestead, that
they are simply taken for granted.
It should be underlined that, although outings
are scheduled, our guests are free to choose resting and only
resting, and enjoy de comfort provided
by our facilities. On Saturdays, good music
and candlelight accompanies dinner.
The restaurant
Our meals are served under the buffet system.
We have a wide variety of them that you will surely love; almost
all vegetables come from our greenhouse and from our vegetable
garden, where we practice a 100% organic farming. This gives our
products a clearly natural taste.
The same happens with our grass fed beef and
lamb, almost cholesterol free.
Our pork is the result or a fat free meat-producing crossbred.
Menus for lunch and dinner are made of the
following: Appetizer, varied entries, hot courses including several
options, salads and dessert, plus coffee or tea.
Our kitchen shows an excellent level and our
gastronomic proposal will, no doubt, satisfy you.
Our Aims
We are enhancing the quality of our services
in an eco-hotel management project that will reflect the current
preservation-friendly world trend.
We plan to promote the kind of tourism naturally
existing in Uruguay, which is becoming relevant as a consequence
of the ecological world trend. It will turn Uruguay into a significant
window to the world due to our environments natural features.
